An Outing

I planned to head to the local park to see if I could find a spot to connect with for several days now. The weather was pleasant and the time right. I had a specific spot in mind and on investigation I found it a bit more exposed to foot traffic than I was originally wanting.

As I sat down on a log to have a light breakfast, I began to think that I would have to look for another spot. Munching on a granola bar a blue jay alighted on a branch to my right just out of arms reach and head height.

They looked at me. I looked at them. I greeted them and offered some of my meal. It was a little to close to me for their comfort but as I sat there absorbing the obvious sign I began to notice the other lives nearby. Several squirrels and eventually four blue jays. So I of course broke up my offering to make sure there was enough for all.

I chose to explore the area a bit more and really found a good spot. Sheltered from the foot traffic with plenty of exposed rock, tree cover, water and wildlife. Somewhere close enough to visit regularly without relying on a vehicle. I can walk there and access it pretty much whenever I want. A small spot to be with myself.

I took some pine cones, a perfect acorn and a evergreen branch that had naturally fallen. To bring some small piece of that sanctuary to my home alter.

Bliss is the wind in the trees.

I am listening.
